Here’s the information on hotels right at the I-5/Market Street interchange that are offering government rates for Cascade Program participants. These are all about 12 minutes drive from the meeting site:
Best Western Black Bear Inn – 1 person 1 bed - $70 +10% tax – 800-786-7234
Phoenix Inn, North Salem – 1 person 1 bed - $70 +10% tax – 888-239-9593
Red Lion – 1 person 1 bed - $70 + 10% tax – 503-370-7888
Super 8 – 1 person 1 bed - $49.99 + 10% tax – 503-370-8888
Motel 6 – 1 person 1 bed - $39.99 + 10% tax – 503-371-8024
Generally the tax is waived with government ID, and that means something more than a business card. The hotels all have somewhat higher, but still good, rates for 2 people-1 bed and 2 people-2 bed.
The Cascade Program has no evening events. Participants are on their own for dinners, but there are a number of fast food and sit-down restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotels. There will be a optional no-host dinner at a restaurant near the meeting site on Wednesday, April 7th for those that want to enjoy the evening together. We will have muffins and fruit available at the venue in the morning. Lunches are part of the program fee.
The Cascade Program is a three-day residential program that provides an opportunity for “up-and coming” leaders to immerse in leadership development. The program helps lay the foundation of leadership skills, and helps the participants discover their leadership potential and passion.
Participants in the Cascade Program are identified by the executive and elected leaders of organizations and communities- from state, county, local, and regional governments; tribal leadership; and not-for-profit agencies as well as community leadership from the private sector- as people who have a significant potential for moving into greater positions of leadership. The participants receive education and coaching at the Cascade Program to help start or continue down the path to future leadership roles. The Cascade Program is not management training, but rather a learning experience that focuses on developing the knowledge, wisdom, and insight that allows a person to enter leadership positions with skill and confidence.
